Piper Emails Driscoll about the DG Conference
It seems that remarks made by John Piper regarding Mark Driscoll during the recent Desiring God Conference have been taken out of context. Imagine that! There is an exchange of emails between the two to refute the cyber-rumors that there is a rift among them.
When I heard Piper speak this admonition, without Driscoll being present, I was surprised and even disappointed. The next morning, Piper corrected the wrong and God was glorified by the whole thing. In fact, I think it was incredibly beneficial for many in the conference to see Piper as human, fallible and even humbled by the whole thing.
Read the conversation. You will be blessed, as I was, to witness such redeeming, God honoring love between two men of the Gospel. It seems the only thing that seperates them is their age (along with their cultural context).
This might be a good place to encourage people that hold such high regard for humans that it sets them up on a level that no sinner belongs. Piper is a human man, redeemed sinner and God has given him a unique favor and platform to preach the Gospel. God is using this man in tremendous ways for the Kingdom, be careful about ascribing honor to Piper that is only due to God. The same can be said for any man.
